Hi everyone!  Many of you know that I have been out of commission for the past few months dew to some neck problems, but I am on the mend and able to start teaching again.  So, I'm sending out my March schedule full  of opportunities to learn/practice encaustic techniques or to try encaustic for the first time.

All classes and workshops will be at my studio space, located at:

Open Studio for Encaustic        March 10, 17, 24 and 31
If you've taken at least one encaustic class with me and want to work on your own projects, this is for you!  We meet every Tuesday morning from 10-1 or afternoon from 1:30- 4:30.  This is not a class or workshop, but an opportunity for you to work on your encaustic pieces.  I will be there to answer questions and offer help as needed.  Feel free to bring your own supplies.  Oil sticks, some encaustic paints and pan pastels will be available for use and  I will have encaustic medium, 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 panels for purchase.  The cost is $25 per session, or stay for the day for $40. This open studio is limited to 4 participants per session.  Please call or email me to reserve your spot. Dates: March 10, 17, 24 and 31

March 12 - Introduction to Encaustic 
This class is an introduction into encaustic medium.  Encaustic is a medium of melted beeswax mixed with damar resin that is painted on a substrate or panel and  heat-fused. You will learn the dos and don'ts of working with encaustic medium.  We will cover the tools, safety, proper substrates (panels) and how to prime them.  You will practice applying the melted wax and proper techniques for fusing the medium.
March 19 - You will learn the techniques for embedding lightweight paper, tissue paper and fabrics.  You will learn how to use pan pastels, oil sticks and encaustic paints.
March  26 - You will create samples using image transfer with a photo copy, charcoal rubbings, graphite paper and gold leaf.
Cost: $35 for each Class    All supplies are included     You can attend one or all!

Wonderful World of Encaustic      March 14  10am - 4pm
This workshop is an introduction into encaustic medium.  Encaustic is a medium of melted beeswax mixed with damar resin that is painted on a substrate or panel and  heat-fused.  You will learn the dos and don'ts of working with encaustic medium.  We will cover the tools, safety, proper substrates (panels) and how to prime them.  You will practice applying the melted wax and proper techniques for fusing the medium.  During the workshop, you will create several small panels, learning different techniques using encaustic medium, encaustic paints, oil paints and oil sticks.   
This workshop is limited to 4 participants.
Cost: $65.00     All supplies are included          March 14  10am - 4pm

 Mixed Media Journals     March 21   10am - 4pm  
Come join in the fun as we explore Batik techniques with encaustic medium.  Encaustic is a medium of melted beeswax mixed with damar resin that is painted on a panel and  heat fused.  We will cover the dos and don'ts of working with encaustic medium, then you will learn how to create a Batik image on silk, as the base of your journal cover.  
In the afternoon you will learn the art of bookmaking, binding signatures (your pages) to your newly created encaustic covers using a single needle Coptic stitch.  The end result will be a beautiful, one-of-a-kind handmade Journal.  A lovely keepsake that will surely be treasured by someone special or to keep for yourself! 
This workshop is limited to 6 participants.
No experience needed
Cost: $75.00
Includes everything needed to complete one journal. (journal covers, encaustic medium, glue, thread for binding and 80lb paper for journal pages)    March 21 10am - 4pm

 Beach Theme Encaustic Ornament     March 22   2pm - 4pm
This workshop is a wonderful way to learn about encaustic medium while creating a beautiful keepsake ornament.   We will be working with encaustic medium  and pan pastels.  We will cover the dos and don'ts of working with encaustic medium, fusing the wax, how to use pan pastels with encaustic and embedding shells and sand into the wax.  You will create 2 beach themed ornaments.
Cost - $35 includes everything to make 2 - 4x4 ornaments
